SORRY, but The workshop is SOLD OUT for BOTH DAYS.
For too long in our country access to money is a huge determining factor in the kind of education one gets.
If you believe that money shouldn't be a factor in a person getting a quality educational experience then this is the workshop you've been waiting for. Not only can you learn from an experienced professional photographer who shoots for a living and doesn't just teach, but you can help out those in the developing world that can't afford an education....
...BECAUSE...not only do you benefit from an education that you can afford. The Pay What You Want Workshop is an introduction to a much larger goal, that of allowing photographers to help educate those less fortunate children around the world.
I am starting a new initiative called "Workshops for Change" My hope is that with all the hundreds of workshops photographers hold every year, many will be inclined to join WFC and donate a minimum of 5% of their workshop profits to help educate children around the world who desperately need it.
As of right now the amazing non-profit Got Your Back Movement is the only official recipient of funds that will come from WFC. Workshops for Change is in it's infancy. Look for a web site and full mission statement in the coming weeks.
In the meantime know that when you attend the Pay What You Want Workshop you are helping educate children who would otherwise not be able to. The money we're talking about to do this for one child is not huge. Your attendance could be the difference in a child's life.

This workshop is different than all others to come before it. Just like the name says you pay whatever you want to attend.
If you want to pay $1 that's what you pay. If $500 is what you'd like to pay, you pay that. It's as simple as that.
No strings attached.
25% of the profits will got to Got Your Back Movement which helps provide an education to children around the world through the purchase of school uniforms.
"WHY UNIFORMS?
In many countries primary school is offered for free or a very small tuition. However, many times, in order to attend free school, a child must own a school uniform. (Some countries even require it by law) The cost of a school uniform prevents millions of children from ever attending their first class. Even in places where there's a nominal tuition fee to attend school, a school uniform can cost upwards of 5 times more than the amount tuition itself. With 80% of humanity living on less than $10 a day, education many times becomes a distant dream.
Got Your Back has focused our efforts on eliminating this burden by distributing school uniforms around the world. Through supplying uniforms free of cost, we hope to offer a pathway for children to gain an education and a chance at pursuing a better, safer, and healthier life. We believe that owning a school uniform is not only the gateway into school, but it's the pathway towards a hopeful, sustainable future."

This is the fullest, most interactive workshop I've ever done. This is not me standing and talking for hours on end. Besides the things you will learn from me directly, you will be learning from each other and from your own exercises and experiences.
Things I will teach directly include:
Creative lighting tips
How to see and live creatively
How to locate, set-up, run and afford a photo studio, even if you think you can't afford it. And no this doesn't involve going into debt or borrowing money.
Running a successful photography business
How to transition from a wedding or portrait photographer into the world of commercial photography and how the two worlds are vastly different.
How to find and keep clients
How to brand yourself to stand out and not get lost in a very crowded field
Breaking into motion/video
Much more....
Plus, the rest of the day will be fully interactive. You will work as individuals and as teams to create and creatively problem solve. We will give you an assignment/theme and send you out in to the streets to complete it. We then come back to the studio to review, critique and share what we've learned.
Drinks and light snacks will be provided. We will have lunch brought in, but you will be responsible for paying for yours.
The workshop takes place JANUARY 21 and 22 2012* at the amazing WestLight Studios. This is my studio in Downtown Nashville, TN. The studio features 5,600 square feet of shooting space and has floor to ceiling west facing windows all along the front.
* This is a one day workshop. The 22nd is a second day added after the 21st sold out.
